The beautiful market town of Pickering is located on the North Yorkshire Moors National Park border. According to town legend,it was founded by Peredurus, a king who ruled during 270 BC. Pickering is filled with flowing streams and limestone hills, creating a spectacular and dramatic backdrop. For evenings out, the town has plenty of theatres, leisure centres and live music; an annual Jazz Festival is held during the month of July. Nature lovers will find Pickering especially appealing with its breathtaking landmarks, such as Dalby Forest, which is home to a variety of beautiful trees and animals such as the nightjar bird and roe deer.
