The charming Peak village of Cromford is set in a wooded gorge by the River Derwent and is surrounded by tree-covered hills and cliffs. Cromford is known as the ‘cradle of the Industrial Revolution’ and attractions in and around the village reflect this. One of these is Cromford Mill, which has been fully restored and is now designated as a World Heritage Site. The village has three public houses and a variety of shops, however for more amenities the towns of Matlock and Matlock Bath are close by. Other attractions in the area include Gulliver’s Kingdom family theme park, Chatsworth House and many more. This area has much to offer and makes a great base for a holiday.
