Located in the hills above the River Greta, the quiet village of Burton-in-Lonsdale is home to an impressive 19th Century church spire, visible from miles around. There is also evidence of Burton Castle nearby, whilst the town's 18th and 19th Century activities as a producer of fine pottery has also left its mark on the landscape. Two of the potteries still continue the tradition in the nearby villages of Bentham and Ingleton, both works welcoming visitors. Burton itself boasts two shops, one of which offers a post office counter, and a welcoming pub. There are also several walks around the village, whilst more popular routes and places of interest are also within easy reach.
