Local Area
:

The fine Lakeland town of Kendal sits on the banks of the river Kent, and often serves as the southern Gateway to the Lakes. The town has many interesting shops, tempting restaurants and traditional pubs, all set off the cobbled lanes and attractive main street. The town also has the ruins of Kendal Castle, set atop a hill with some lovely town views, and Abbot Hall Art Gallery. Places of interest nearby include Levens Hall, Sizergh Castle, and some wonderful limestone escarpments which offer good walking and views over the Lakeland mountains and Morecambe Bay. With the rest of the Lakes and even the Yorkshire Dales within easy reach, this is a great base for enjoying both National Parks throughout the year.
