Local Area:
Divided into two very distinct halves - The High Town and Low Town – Brignorth is split by the red sandstone ridge on which it was built. These two halves are connected by winding streets and the steep funicular railway - allowing visitors to see what Charles I described as 'the finest view in all the kingdom'. The Saturday market offers a wonderful backdrop against which to explore the town whilst flowing below is the River Severn, providing many picturesque riverside walks. The Severn Valley Railway runs between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster, using a variety of steam and diesel engines for its scenic route. Surrounding Bridgnorth are a selection of country parks, great houses, museums and picturesque Shropshire villages, as well as the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, Ironbridge Gorge, and the towns of Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton.
