Thomas Hardy's inspiration for "Casterbridge", the town of Dorchester, is just seven miles away, and a drive along the scenic coast road takes you to Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical Gardens. The views of the stunning Dorset Heritage Coastline from West Bay are also well worth taking the time to see.
