The pretty town of Kilkee in the west of County Clare enjoys an excellent position, overlooking the mile-long horseshoe bay. With a Blue Flag beach that is protected from the Atlantic weather by the Duggerna Reef, this resort is popular amongst those looking for a traditional seaside holiday. In addition to excellent waters for swimming, the beach is also home to Kilkee Surf School which runs surf camps for children aged nine to 16 at Kilkee and Doughmore beaches every week of the summer holidays. For golf enthusiasts there is an 18-hole championship course, situated on the road towards George's Head. There are also numerous walks throughout the region which incorporate spectacular scenery.
