Somerset Cottage is a cottage that has been lovingly converted from an old barn near to the North Yorks Moors village of Great Ayton, near to the market town of Guisborough. The cottage contains one double bedroom and a sofa bed which with a wet room style shower room makes it suitable for four people. The rest of the accommodation is made up of an open plan living area with a fitted kitchen, dining area and a sitting area which contains the sofa bed. To the outside of the cottage are a communal courtyard with outdoor furniture and BBQ and shared use of a three acre field, as well as off road parking for two cars. With its two neighbouring cottages, Somerset Cottage can accommodate up to twelve people, making this a fabulous cottage for a large family to use as a base for exploring this wonderful region. This barn conversion cottage is just outside the village of Great Ayton near Guisborough on the edge of the North Yorks Moors National Park and can sleep four people in one bedroom and a sofa bed.

The village of Great Ayton lies on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, at the foot of the Cleveland Hills. Great Ayton is famous for being the boyhood home of Captain Cook, and is also mentioned in the Domesday Book. The village consists of a mixture of stone cottages and some new development housing. Great Ayton has two village greens, with a river running alongside, making it a popular picnic spot in the summer months. To the north of the village, the view is dominated by Roseberry Topping, a 330 metre hill. In the village are a good range of shops and inns, which, together with restaurants and cafes, cater well for holidaymakers. There is also the old school, now converted into the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum. Around the village are several interesting walks and Great Ayton makes a great base for walkers wishing to explore the stunning countryside around, especially in the summer months when the moors turn purple with blooming heather.
