Wirksworth is the home of the lively carnival that celebrates the ancient Derbyshire tradition of Well Dressing, and the annual Arts festival attracts international performers of every kind. There are many opportunities for some great outdoor pursuits around here, including rock climbing, cycling and walking. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Matlock Bath and its cable car, Gulliver's Kingdom, and the newly restored Ecclesbourne Valley Railway are all close by.
