With so much historic and cultural importance in North Wales, Caernarfon, the county town of Gwynedd, is a popular tourist spot. With an impressive 13th century castle and well preserved town walls, this is a wonderful location for history enthusiasts. During the summer season the castle runs guided tours and special events including historic pageants. Segontium, a Roman fort and museum, is home to various important finds and makes an interesting day out. Visitors can also enjoy a trip on the Welsh Highland Railway which passes through the area's dramatic scenery, or why not arrange a fishing trip from the local harbour?
