For something a little more cosmopolitan, the medieval city of Salisbury provides visitors with a wealth of attractions, one of which is its cathedral, boasting the tallest spire in the country and a tranquil cathedral close, bordered by magnificent historic houses. Visitors can explore the variety of interesting shops on offer, or browse stalls of the twice weekly market. Wilton House is just a short drive away, as is the enigmatic monument of Stonehenge. Alternatively, a visit to nearby New Forest National Park is very worthwhile.
