Broadwoodkelly was originally the home for local farm workers and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. In the centre of the village is a 13th Century church which boasts many interesting features, including a Wagon Roof in the porch with decorated bosses. The organ previously belonged to Lord John Thynne and came from the Cloisters of Westminster Abbey. While Broadwoodkelly is still mainly a quiet rural village, it does have village events during the year, including sports days, garden open days, and village gatherings. The village is well-served by a number of country walks and there is excellent fishing to be found in the nearby rivers and streams. Okehampton is just 8 miles from Broadwoodkelly and from there you can explore the rugged beauty of Dartmoor. Alternatively, if you want sun, sand and surf, the stunning North Devon Coast is just a short drive away.
