Local Area:
Situated in the south west of County Wexford, the picturesque fishing village of Duncannon is dominated by Duncannon Fort - positioned on a rocky outcrop jutting into the channel. To the west is Waterford Harbour which boasts a sandy beach, popular for swimming and sunbathing, as well as being home to the International Sand Sculpting Festival. With a few pubs and restaurants and a children's playground, the village of Duncannon is an excellent spot for a traditional seaside holiday. It is also possible to catch a ferry to the beaches Dunmore East (popular for their water spots), to shop for traditional crystal in Waterford, enjoy the music of Wexford Festival Opera each October or explore some of the historic houses and lovely walks which run throughout the region.
