The neighbouring village of Kirkby Lonsdale is situated mid way between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town itself is steeped in history and was mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086, holding a 13th Century Market Charter. The town hosts a market every Thursday, presenting visitors with the perfect opportunity to explore the variety of distinctive shops, or the many 17th and 18th Century buildings. This part of the Lune valley was made famous by the artists Turner and Ruskin. The medieval Devil's Bridge and the many country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse and there are three golf courses nearby
