The picturesque town of Kenmare is situated on the stunning Bay of Kenmare, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. With beautiful beaches, wildlife and lovely scenery, the area is popular amongst walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers. The surrounding coastline is rugged, though does offer a number of sandy beaches in addition to the more common pebble strands that are found around the bay. The town of Kenmare itself is an interesting place, with long winding streets and traditional farmers markets, artists' galleries, independent boutiques and some of the best restaurants in Ireland. The famous town of Killarney is close by and is home to an abundance of attractions, pubs, festivals and a National Park. With all of this within a 35 minute drive, the area manages to be both teeming with activities, yet still retaining a relaxing atmosphere.
