Nestling at the foot of Great Whernside, near the head of Upper Wharfedale, the village of Kettlewell makes the perfect place from which to explore the wonderful scenery of this magnificent Dale. Much of Upper Wharfedale is National Trust owned - an indication of the beauty of its classic countryside, with dry-stone walls and barns, important flower-rich hay meadows and valley side woodland. The village itself, lying on the banks of the River Wharfe is a real delight with traditional built stone cottages, two excellent pubs, a post office, speciality shops and a hotel. An excellent base for enjoying the famous Dales, historic market towns, caves and waterfalls of this magical area.
