Local Area:
Situated at the southernmost point of Arkengarthdale is the pretty little Swaledale hamlet of Fremington. Set in a delightful area with magnificent countryside and spectacular views, this charming village is just a short walk from Grinton and Reeth – both of which offer good pubs and excellent places to eat. Originally a Saxon settlement, nearby Reeth became a centre for hand knitting and local lead mining during the 18th Century. Its houses and hotel, clustered around a large village green, make it one of the most popular Dales villages. The quaint town of Askrigg is also within easy driving distance and may be better known as ‘Darrowby’, the setting for the television series, "All Creatures Great and Small". Hardraw Force, England’s highest single drop waterfall is close by, as are the historic market towns of Richmond and Leyburn.
