The bustling market town of Pickering has many attractions including pubs, restaurants, shops, tea rooms and a weekly farmer's market. The town is also known as the official gateway to the breathtaking North York Moors National Park. The town also boasts a marvelous castle and museums; such as The Beck Isle Museum which shows a collection of black and white photographs and displays of rural life. A train ride along the North Yorkshire Moors Stream Railway is essential and fans of Harry Potter are able to explore the locations used in the Philosopher's Stone. The stunning North York Moors National Park with its many hills, valleys and rivers is a haven for walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. Also the wonderful, historic city of York and seaside resorts of Whitby and Scarborough are all within driving distance which makes Pickering a fantastic base to explore this brilliant area.
