Local Area:
The Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is a charming town set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay. This wonderful seaside settlement offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. What was once an old fishing village was transformed by the Furness Railway to become a fashionable Edwardian resort. Much of the town’s current architecture, such as the traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses and brass band concerts are due to this expansion of the village. The excellent beach also offers good bird watching opportunities whilst a short drive away is Lake Windermere and the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead. Set amidst the southern lakes, Grange-over-Sands makes a wonderful holiday destination for the whole family and a superb base from which to enjoy the rest of this beautiful area.
