This village is a perfect introduction to "Herriot Country" and is picturesque and peaceful, boasting a first class traditional pub, a beautiful old Norman church and many fine old houses. Cut out of the hill in 1857 in the nearby countryside, the White Horse of Kilburn is a renowned local landmark that is maintained with donations from the villagers. Easingwold is a lovely local market town with a pretty market square and a good selection of shops, pubs and cafes, though if you’re looking for somewhere larger to visit the cathedral town of York is also within easy driving distance. With its imposing Minster, medieval walls and Jorvik Viking Centre, the region’s capital is well worth visiting for a fun-filled day out.
