Local Area:
The picturesque hamlet of Santon Bridge sits in an area of Cumbria that is relatively undiscovered by tourists and has remained unspoilt as a result. The horizon surrounding Stanton consists of stunning views of various mountains, including Great Gable, Hard Knott, Muncaster Fell, Harter Fell and England’s highest peak, Scafell. The village itself is very small and tranquil, consisting of a few farm buildings, a number of cottages and a local pub, which serves excellent food to locals and visitors alike. In addition to the walks and cycle-trails in the area, there are many local attractions to enjoy, such as the World Owl Centre, Muncaster Castle and Wastwater, the deepest lake in the UK. To take in the scenery, but without the effort, there is a miniature railway that leads from Ravenglass to Eskdale; a truly stunning journey in which to soak up the splendour of the region.
