Located amongst low limestone hills, marshy plains and deciduous woodlands, the surrounding countryside is an ideal place for walkers and cyclists. Retaining many reminders of its former life as a fishing port, the village boasts a beautiful pier and port area as well as stunning views across the Kent Estuary, providing an enduring reminder of Arnside's illustrious history. To the south of the village, visitors can see the 15th Century Peel Towers, constructed to defend against the marauding Scots. The internationally renowned Leighton Moss RSPB Reserve is just one mile away and makes a great day out whether you're an enthusiastic birdwatcher or a complete novice. Guided walks across the Kent Estuary are available and show the full shore and surrounding area.
