Known as the gateway to Connemara, the picturesque village of Cong is situated between the shores of Lough Corrib and Lough Mask in County Mayo. Famous as the backdrop for 'The Quiet Man', the village offers a number of special tours to commemorate the film. Also in the region are the dramatic ruins of Cong Abbey, founded in the 12th Century by Turlogh O'Connor - King of Connaught and the High King of Ireland.
