The market town of Skibbereen is a vibrant place that prides itself on a reputation for excellent local produce including seafood, meat and vegetables, all of which are available from the weekly country and farmers' markets. In addition to its excellent shopping facilities, it is also within easy reach of some of the region's most beautiful scenery including a wealth of sandy beaches, coves, lakes, hills and forests - all easily accessible for walkers, cyclists and drivers. Also close by is an 18-hole golf course and an indoor sports centre, offering a number of activities as well as a relaxing sauna. The towns of Leap and Rosscarbery are within easy reach, overlooking the rugged West Cork coastline, as are Ballydehob, Schull and the beautiful town of Bantry. Dolphin and whale watching trips are available in the area and an array of sandy beaches and rugged cliffs make this a great place for walkers.
