Gilling West is a wonderful village set in scenic countryside and is winner of ‘Yorkshire in Bloom’. The village boasts a pretty church, two pubs that serve food and a shop/Post Office. From Gilling West, there are footpaths and bridleways, plus fishing is available nearby. Just three miles away is the bustling market town of Richmond which has many amenities such as shops, pubs and restaurants. The magnificent Castle sits high above the River Swale and is an impressive sight. The Castle Walk – a terrace walk beneath the castle walls is a lovely walk to enjoy. Richmond also has pretty cobbled streets and narrow alleys, plus a beautiful market place where a weekly market and monthly farmer’s market are held. A walk along the River Swale with parks, paddling areas and small waterfalls is a wonderful way to relax. Gilling West is also an ideal location to explore the stunning Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Park. With so much to see and do, you will not want to leave.
