Situated just six miles north of Ballina, Killala is a charming seaside village with a delightful quay with vibrant boats. The quay overlooks some attractive sand dunes that are just off the coast and a popular site for birdwatching. The centre of the village is dominated by a 150-year-old round tower and there is a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants and other amenities scattered throughout the picturesque narrow streets. Outdoor pursuits are offered in abundance with activities such as surfing, golf, fishing and walking all on hand. Keen photographers have a wealth of stunning scenery with the magnificent mountain ranges and spectacular islands to indulge their hobby, and visitors with an interest in archaeology can visit the Céide Fields at Ballycastle where there is an award winning visitor's centre.
