Local Area
:

Situated on the River Dore, the delightful village of Abbey Dore lies at the southern end of the Stunning Golden Valley, close to the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park. The village is the setting for Abbey Dore Court Gardens, which is open to the public between April and September. The history of the Abbey goes back to 1147 when it was founded by Cistercian Monks, and then restored to its present form in the 18th and 19th Centuries. The town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for its many bookshops, is just 15 miles away. Nearby Hereford is an ancient town dating back to the 7th century and is steeped in history, while Offa's Dyke and the Wye Valley provide ample opportunity for walkers.
