Local Area
:

Set wonderfully on the southernmost tip of the Lake District, Arnside village lies in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Low limestone hills, marshy plains and deciduous woodland make up the attractive surrounding landscape, forming an ideal and interesting backdrop for a walking or cycling break. Reminders of Arnside's past as a fishing port can be found in the beautiful pier and port area of the village, with wonderful views across the Kent Estuary. To the south of the village, 15th Century Peel Towers, constructed to defend the settlement against marauding Scots, still stand. One mile away, the Leighton Moss RSPB Nature Reserve is a great destination for bird-watchers, nature lovers or simply those looking to relax. The Lake District, Lune Valley, Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland are all within easy driving distance.
